Application: The counterflow cooler can cool the pellets to a temperature slightly higher than the room temperature
The counterflow cooler efficiently lowers pellet temperatures from 70 ℃ to 90 ℃ to just above room temperature, approximately 3 ℃ to 5 ℃. It also reduces moisture to a safe level (≤12.5%), enhancing convenience for pellet transportation and storage.
SKLN Series Counterflow Cooler: Efficient Cooling for High-Quality Pellets
The cooling stage is critical in the pelletizing process, as it directly affects the final product's quality and stability. The SKLN Series Counterflow Cooler is a high-performance solution specifically designed for this purpose. It is widely applied in production lines for animal feed, wood pellets, biomass fuels, and chemical granules.
Utilizing counterflow cooling principles, the system ensures that hot air contacts hot pellets and cool air contacts cooled pellets, thus preventing surface cracks caused by sudden cooling and providing uniform, gentle cooling and pellet integrity.
SKLN adopts a counter-current airflow structure. As high-temperature, high-moisture pellets enter the cooling chamber, cool air from the bottom interacts with already-cooled pellets, while hot air at the top meets the hotter pellets. This staged cooling process protects pellet surfaces, improves final stability, and enhances product quality.
✅ Efficient Temperature & Moisture Reduction
The cooler can reduce pellet temperature from 70°C–90°C down to within 3°C–5°C above ambient temperature. It also lowers moisture content to a safe level (≤12.5%), enabling secure storage and smooth transportation while minimizing caking risks.
✅ Unique Sliding Discharge Valve
Equipped with a sliding valve discharge mechanism, the cooler provides smooth material discharge, prevents bridging, and enhances machine durability and lifespan.
✅ Compact Structure & Easy Maintenance
The compact design saves floor space and allows easy access for disassembly and cleaning. Key components are easy to maintain, which reduces operational costs and downtime.
Thanks to its stable structure, uniform cooling, and efficient moisture control, the SKLN series is widely used in:
✅ Feed Industry
Used in pellet production lines for livestock, poultry, aquaculture, and ruminants. Positioned downstream of pellet mills, the cooler quickly reduces temperature and moisture to prevent mold and agglomeration. Examples: Pig feed pellets, poultry feed, floating/sinking fish feed.
✅ Biomass Fuel Industry
Ideal for cooling high-temp biomass pellets (e.g., sawdust, rice husks, straw) after compression. It avoids cracking and improves pellet durability and combustion efficiency. Examples: Wood fuel pellets, straw pellets, coconut shell pellets.
✅ Chemical Industry
Applied in cooling fertilizer, plastic, catalyst, or resin pellets. The cooler meets high demands for temperature and moisture control. Examples: Compound fertilizer granules, polymer particles, PVC pellets.
✅ Fertilizer & Organic Fertilizer Industry
Pellets like organic manure or NPK granules require stable moisture and temperature control after granulation. SKLN coolers help maintain pellet structure and avoid clumping. Examples: Chicken manure fertilizer, NPK granules, humic acid pellets.
✅Q1: What materials is the SKLN cooler suitable for? A: It is suitable for all kinds of granular materials, such as feed pellets, biomass pellets (sawdust, rice husk, straw), fertilizer granules, and chemical pellets.
✅Q2: Can the cooler be customized for my production capacity? A: Absolutely. We offer customized models based on your pellet mill output and material characteristics.
✅Q3: Is the machine easy to operate? A: Yes, it features an intelligent control system for automatic discharging, airflow regulation, and easy operation. Basic training is sufficient for operators.
✅Q4: What machines does the SKLN cooler typically work with? A: It is usually paired with pellet mills, bucket elevators, air fans, cyclone dust collectors, and packing machines to form a complete cooling and handling system.
✅Q5: How should the cooler be maintained? A: Regular cleaning of the cooling bin, inspection of valve and fan performance, and lubrication of moving parts are all that’s needed to keep it running efficiently.
This fully automated line uses two SKLN counterflow coolers for pig feed pellet cooling. After pelletizing, the feed temperature reaches 85°C with up to 16% moisture. After cooling, the temperature drops to ambient +4°C and the moisture to 12.3%. This prevents clumping and mold, ensuring safe storage. Daily cooling capacity exceeds 240 tons, with minimal labor required.
This facility produces pellets for cattle and sheep. Early-stage coolers are frequently clogged due to fiber-rich, large-diameter pellets. After upgrading to our SKLN cooler with a sliding discharge valve, material flow became smooth, eliminating false-full alarms and downtime. Yearly uptime improved by 20%, and pellet durability increased, helping the client expand into new markets.
This facility produces poultry feed (chicken, duck, goose) and uses a smart automated line with full equipment integration. The SKLN cooler connects directly to the pellet mill and packaging line. Using an intelligent temperature-moisture control system, it automatically adjusts airflow and discharge timing, reducing manual intervention. The system handles 260+ tons per day with low maintenance costs.
